Which is the best steel design software?

STAAD Pro is well know and does the job, but also Technosoft , great software for the mechanical part, but also the detailed checks and design of the steel details, welded and bolded. No, I don't sell it, I just use it.....

Well if you ask me, I would say it depends on the type of structure which you are going to design. As a matter of fact, there are lots of commercial softwares to analyse and design of both steel and concrete structures. Here I can mention some of them like: ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD PRO, ROBOT and etc. Obviousely, each one has its own pro and cons. For design of Steel Buildings I prefer ETABS because this software has many tools to design of a structure according to the international codes and it can satisfy the various clauses of AISC code. However, STAAD PRO is a more comprehensive software in compare to ETABS.

Sofistik it a German software but not readily available in many countries but second best for me is Staad Bentley. Why?

Because when you model you structural and analysis it the resultant stress can be diagrammatical , kinda like show the local stress and were the affect the most . Like what Prokon does on a concrete slab show different stress ranges by colour. This is particularly useful when checking structural capacity of an aged structural steel bridge. With Sofistik though it simulates the age and the fatigue after the number of years that structure has been in existance.

STAAD Pro is one of the best steel softwares that i have used.

I'm using Radimpex Tower7 for structural analysis and design.

Staadpro is the best and we can use Sap2000 and Prokon and there are some custom made softwares for Pre-Engineering Builings

Staad ro is the best programs for steel design and analysis, it contains more international codes for design and make calculation sheets for design.

It depends on the user on what program or software they will use. The important thing is that they know what, when, where, and how to check whether the software produces a "good" result or not.
