Societal Marketing Concept means that your markrting ads, behaviour and goals should meat not only the customer's expectations but both customer and society.

Also not being against socitey ideas and believes, unless this is the main goal, it meant with it to change customers behaviour in certain society>

Societal Marketing incorporates sustainability methods in doing business in doing business. In this day and age ethical ways of doing business is no longer optional. Many consumers are now attracted and drawn to products based on the ethical made decisions in production and even CSR activities that corporations embark on.

Societal marketing there fore: 

1. Builds trust with the consumer. it gives customers confidence in your brand, proving that the firm is not only out to get the dollar in their pocket, but are also concerned about the impact of their business on the community.

2. Builds a positive brand reputation, the increasingly conscious consumer may only purchase products produced sustainbly. A good example is a company Veja Sneakers that doesnt even advertise their sneakers but produces then sustainably and is making profits due to the sustainabie methods of production.

3. Has long term benefits on the environment , but applying methodologies that reduce environmental impact. 

4. Is Cost effective - most governments are imposing heavy fines on companies that break laws regarding waste management and the use of dangerous materials in production. Companies that abide by these laws end up saving money in the long run.

5. Societal marketing can  justify premium pricing taking note that applying sustainabilty means going against the grain and it may not necessarily be a cheap way of doing business. Cost impact is a factor for consideration.

Evidently with global issues such as global warming and rising sea levels due to economic activities of man, sustainability is no longer a concept that can be ignored. Marketers should factor this in when they're developing new products.
