What would you recommend to be deploy either put AD on VMs and let the base machine as it is or in reverse case put AD on base machine and use Hyper-V VMs for smaller services.
I think you should keep the AD on VM and leave the base machine as it is .

For best practices, put the AD on a VM and let the base server as it is. You can also join the base server to the domain but you can only loggin to the base server with a local account (local admin).
