Which OS is used by the programmers..?and Why do/don't you think everyone should use the same OS

first :

programmers use 

linux - windows - mac and any OS 

it don't matter what OS they use .. any one can write code with any editor on windows .

and write same code in linux . both will give you same result 

But ... the difference here is what are you comfortable with . linux or windows .. that return to you

 

second :

The programmer or any amateur should try out more than one thing and always look for the best.  

  

 

if is web application programmer need to think about programming language ( which application server will support this application ) . but  front end customer can use any os. 

is Desktop application mostly programmers using windows platform.

Programmers can use Windows/Linux/MacOS or anything else which they feel comfortable to accomplish their task. To develop software, it doesn't matter which OS they should choose, because it is possible to develop a program for MacOS or Linux from Windows, just need the proper development kit. 

Linux is an OS which is used by many programmers but not by the general users. Everyone don't need to use the same OS, individuals should use the OS which gives him most comfort.  

Lunix Linux is frequently overlooked by the general public and doesn't get much attention outside of hardcore enthusiasts. Some people perceive it to be overly complicated and unintuitive, while some simply aren't really aware of its existence.

Mostly used OS by programmers is workstation like windows 8, 10 for developing there application for an build after successfully build or completed application deployed on production server for live OS windows 2012 Server or 2008 R2.

Its depend the nature of application or software for compatible with OS where programmer can do coding or build , there is no mandatory for programmers for any specific workstation OS used.

Generally every programers use os like windows 7,8,10 some uses windows xp also. The choice of os depends on the nature of programing applications used by user. I dont think it is necessary to use same os by everyone.
