Profit means that for each dollar you spent you earned a certain fraction for that dollar, this could be calculated at each stage through the cost performance index CPI which the result of the amount earned over the amount spent. If the result is more than1 you it is a profitable stage if the result is less than1 means that you are lossing or not using the funds effciently.
