Will "Big Brother" employees' management style always work?

In small companies or small teams, we found managers tend to play the "Big Brother" role in order to be liked and appreciated as always helping boss. do you think this help improving the employees, and company competencies?

It is not acceptable in the modern management world, I do not like it, I do not like to put a spy everywhere to keep yourself updated.
There are many managerial tools to do that professionally.
Normally this style is exists in family business more than international firms

Big Brother approach to bully employees is extremely dangerous for an organisation and is the most undesirable professional approach.
However, Big Brother with extensive knowledge, experience, leadership and managerial qualities and as a team player is happily acceptable by employees as this relationship develops the human resources.
