Depends on what you mean by "IT"...Information Technology is a general knowledge about technology fields such as Programming, Networking, etc.

you can say it's a mini version of Computer Science. So you can learn general information about technology. I recommend you mainly focus on the category you want in the tech world.

what do you wanna be?

Programmer?

networker?

server manager?

etc...

just like "Engineering" there are many fields for that:

Mechanical

Architecture

Electrical

but in the end they are all engineers...same with IT field...Kind of!

By passion to explore is the key to learn the IT in better form. Not all the things taught by books. It is the genre that you have in it to propagate. Be it yourself and also go through with the different technical forums.

IT is a very vast subject and you would need to identify your interests. One way is try to find what are the IT-related problems that people are facing today in day to day life, list them and then prioritize which one you want to solve.

Then try to create a flow chart on how you would like to resolve

Create mock screens or drawings of how you as a user would go through this journey.

Gather the information required to create the program/software/application i.e. tools, languages etc. Join forums, subscribe emails, watch videos and go to network with people.

Learn the techniques and apply them to create your application.

Once you find that your first version is fine, make it public and get the initial survey or comments.

Track insights and optimize again. The process is cyclic. There is no better learning process than identifying and resolving the problems that people face. It gives you a sense of satisfaction and makes you feel do more for the world.

Join technical group on social platform and interact with people.

Keep on learning. Updates are endless and technology is evolving day by day. Always looking to upgrade your knowledge. Searching for answers and new ways for quick and easier results.

Online education is good but not what you are looking for. To acquire better IT knowledge you need the practice and making errors so you can lean from them .
