1 - specialist recruitment sites on the Internet 2 - progress to employment agencies 3 - Send your resume to companies that want to join them

I agree with Amira's recommendations but just want to add, when you are hunting organisations that you wish to join adn who are not posting specific jobs, do it professionally, like, don't send it to the info mail for instance as this send negative message to the company and it will end up in the trash folder.
just make sure that it is sent to the concerned person as mentioned on their website (particular recruitment mail or career portal).

I agree with all the previous answers and again there are essentially just 3 ways in which any organization, large or small can recruit; You can access candidates through a database ( whether this database is yours and you have worked on building this database or any other source such as Bayt.com or any other social professional network ) also, I stress on posting/advertising the current vacancy because you advertise the current recruitment need in the most appropriate media, first you will gain exposure added to finding the professional talents who are willing to move from their current position to your industry with this title ...Etc finally, you can Headhunt, proactively approaching candidates and often referred to as “Search”/instatnt match.

I agreed with both Amira and Samar and appreciate the answers of my friends… One more thing which is essential is to write on the blogs and share ideas to make yourself highlight in the eye of recruiters/head hunters….
By your write-ups they will analyze your potential, knowledge, & most importantly your behavior (they way you think & act) and they will judge whether you can be adjusted in their Company’s culture or not…..

What is the best approach to job hunting? Should one stick to sites such as bayt.com, connect through linkedIn or do you have any other ideas? Sometimes looking for jobs on the websites can be like looking into a deep black hole.
There seem to be many jobs but people having difficulties getting responses.
I would like to know why so many companies keep the name of their companies 'unknown'.
I find this very suspicious and it gives a very dubious impression There are so many jobs which need to be pulled off the sites as they are out-of-date.
Targeting particular companies and sites that you know have the skills you want to use can narrow down the applications you need to make.
Get your job quest out by word of mouth too.
Let friends and family know your plans so that they can help spread the word.

one could not depend on one channel of recruitment support. Try with efinancial career and Linkedln, which really may help to boost your confidence and enhance your professional network and communication with employers/HR directly

First and foremost you need to assess the situation if you are currently employed / unemployed / going to be laid off....etc based on which you can prioritize on how urgent or desperate the situation is.
Once you have determined your urgency - you can decide further course of action.
If it is a desperate situation - you can talk to head-hunters and flash your resume across jobsites.
If it is not a desperate situation then you can search the web and jobsites and apply to targeted organizations.
