Is it important for employee of hospitality to be qualified and experiences only in his own specialty? Or its better to have different experience?

I consider it is important for hospitality employee to be qualified in his specialty however having other experiences can benefit you in many ways. First of all it enriches you as a person, secondary, allows you to gain more valuable know-how for your future career growth.
