All cars with Automatic Transmission will consume more fuel when shifted to manual mode, regardless of being tiptronic or any other type, reason is that shifting to manual or tiptronic you are forcing the car to use maximum engine power before shifting to the higher gear, this is done to enjoy the power of the car and the engine sound, therfore the fuel is consumed more. but if you know when to shift gears with tiptronic or manula shift before reaching the higher engine revs, then you can be in the econoy zone and not increase fule consumption.
