Essential Information

Photography certificate programs are often offered at private and public colleges and universities, community colleges, design schools and trade schools. These programs typically require completion of 6-10 courses, and students gain significant hands-on experience with cameras and other technical equipment.

Photography Certificate Program

Coursework for a photography certificate program covers photography's technical aspects, such as figuring the aperture, shutter speed and depth of field. Students also study composition, lighting and other aesthetic aspects. Although professional-grade photography equipment isn't usually required, certain gear, like a tripod and a single-lens reflex camera, is often necessary. Required courses may include the following:

  • Studio lighting
  • Digital image management
  • Commercial photography
  • Digital editing
  • Color and composition
  • Portraiture

Certificate programs for photography can be given at private and public universities, design schools or maybe in some community colleges. Or see on web if there are some private groups for that you can visit, like workshops, and through that maybe you can obtain that certificate.

According to my little knowledge of Photography, my answers are either positive and negative at the same time.

A Smart and Professional Photographer will only select a certain field and empower his / her knowledge and experience in that.

2ndly obtaining certificates is not important, the think which really matters is the field of interest and experience of the Photographer.

in conclusion it's all about experience, the more you are more experienced the more you will be satisfied with what you are doing.

indeed still you have to be in a particular field. You can't master photography at all.

there are many certificate related options but the conclusions comes how you do your work and there specialized courses for photography plenty.

As far as I know a photographer does need some kind of certificate sometimes if applying for a job at the studio or something. But if you are a freelancer I don't think you need a certificate to be certified. Although if you studied photography at some school or institute they provide a certificate that you completed courses. What I think certifies a photographer and shows expertise is a portfolio and that's what represents the photographer not a certificate.
