A computer virus is a program that spreads malicious code by copying itself and infecting host computers. Although some viruses are latent, others can corrupt data or impede system performance. It is always a good idea to keep antivirus software up to date for protection against new viruses.

A Virus is a code that is written in order to be steathly and perform certain malicious actions. It can do many things like corrupt your system file, over take your computer resources for a third party, install a keylogger, compromise your security and data, hijack your computer, lock your computer (ransomware) and there are so many other things a virus can do. It would make your system very slow and prone to crashes and/or malfunctions.
Always use a realiable anti virus as well as a malware protection program, make sure all the latest system updates are installed in order to close any loop holes or entry points.
