While Autocad is just providing the opportunity to draw lines , Revit provided the way for using a smart technology which deals with the architectural components as they really are in the main world , it enhances the work quality and reduces the mistakes as much as possible, Revit is the architecture future in my opinion .
Synergies and similarities:
- They both have tremendous abilities in the composition of the buildings, they have all the tools architectural. For example: they have walls, doors, windows, stairs, handrails, floors, ceilings, walls your doors and windows and walls of rooms and spaces, and others.

REVIT Provides easy for section vies ,cordination checking,more clarity than autocad.it also gives good runnering,walkthrough.more faster than using autocad
While Autocad is just providing the opportunity to draw lines , but rivit is more aduvanced sotfware its mainly for architectural designs.
It will be the both. because both software are from autodesk. the reason autodesk bought revit software in is due to the users choosing Revit over Auto Cad.
As long as there is auto desk, architects should learn both software to use.
In my view for2D- Auto cad,3D Exterior- Revit, and3D Interior-3DS Max.
revit is much more flexible than autocad. doing modifications on revit are much easier than autocad. the future is obviously for revit.
while using autocad we are drawing lines as vectors and each line is a seperate vector which it doesn't refer to any thing else. for example when we draw walls in a plan, we have to re-draw the same walls again for the section or the elevation etc.
on the other hand, revit is much more complex and interactive. when we draw lines, they are not just lines, they are defining elements which can be seen as plan drawings, sections, elevations etc. so here we are drawing graphical lines and not vectors.
there is also plenty of options on revit that make designing easier and more accurate.
Definitely Revit. It did improve and ease the work.
Whenever you get to learn it, you'll love it since it provides more tools and gives better results. A new high level.
Revit will be use in future because AutoCAD is used for drafting of internal and external areas of buildings whereas Revit used for generating perfect plans for building information modeling (BIM) for bigger projects.
