Strength is power. If you have the strength to win during negotiation but don't use it, means  it is of no worth. For example if you have full authority to take decision during negotiation but you don't or have knowledge and experience on the issue but you don't utilize. One can even say that you are fully capable to negotiate on the issue but you don't take it serious and react lazily. The result of negotiation may never be in your favor if you don't practice your power.

Good negotiations are achieved when parties have or think they have similar power. When there is significant power imbalance the forum or method of dispute settlement may be selected to counteract this. Any negotiated settlement that is resolved by the use of Power is only a temporary fix. My advice is to use power at your peril.

I do agree.  It is more powerful to convince rather than to enforce before this is a win-win situation at the end to everybody.

Using power and negotiation are two separate things

Using power means you are implementing your decision (It may be right or wrong depends on situation)

Negotiation means you are open to listen all suggestions and take a decision with everyone consent.

Regarding your second point it adds value or not according to my opinion you can solve 80% of your problems by negotiation .Rest 20% needs the power .

i tend to agree with that statement.

I agree with this statement, because Power in general is a thing, that everybody has. Of course in different proportions. But very important is a mastery, how you use your power. Somebody can have a billion dollars, private army and he doesn't achieve anything, by reason he can't manage his power in a right way.

So, if you show for your partners your power, but do not use it, they might think, that you cannot use it properly.

Of course agree, the winner in any negotiation who are usually well preparing for it by collecting all information about the other party i.e. his strengths, weakness,... , in order to well evaluate same, and plan how to maneuver to use his own strengths against the other party strengths or weakness on due time to finally win, and achieving objectives.

Agree. If you have something and are not using on the suitable platform, definitely you are loosing your strength, talent or whatever the name! Your all traits will be more strenghten if you are able to use at the right time at right place.
