the basic thing in FMCG is that it doesn't brand thing it is like necessity and can be used for survival 

while in retail the products may be sold in the years.

 

the profit ratio of the FMCG is less and the circle of sales is quite high while in retail the profit is quite high as the product is kept as an investment

 

general daily life items are FMCG and can be changed as the demographics are changed while retail don't have this kind of issue

The major difference between retail and FMCG industries are 

1. B2B & B2C ( Business to Business ) in Retail sector and (Business to customer) in FMCG Sector

2. About Stock : Fast moving consumer goods are required stock availability more often than retail

3. In terms of payment -FMCG use cash & retail will use cash, PDC, LC, Bank transfer etc

4. Marketing - FMCG required more ads and promoters comparing retail industry
