No I dont think a cancellation is a bad thing. It might be of a multitude of reasons. So you may be you loose some commission - but that's the time to make another sale. Stay focused and believe in what you and who you are.

Perhaps the cancellation was the right decision for both you you - you may never know - so dont let it concern you. Move forward.

This Should not affect your credibility, it's part of the sales game! instead shift your motivation  and energy in regaining the sales and other orders. Keep your targets and enthusiasm high.

No, of course! This is a normal situation in sales and do not pay attention to it, it is necessary to conclude and move on to work with new clients and new orders!

Cancellation of an order generally don't affect any employee's reputation at all... but in some parts of world corruption occurs in this field... I've experience of seeing some people generating orders in the closing of month  and cancellation after closing... in that case reputation can be affected.. if your surrounding is like this consider management thinking about your reputation.. if not then don't worry...

Why should the cancellation of a solitary sales order spoil the executive's reputation? Hasn't he been responsible or done some amount of hard work to get it in the first place? Cancellation of the sales order at the eleventh hour is something which many of us in this field have faced and the reasons are not something that can be attributed to the calibre or hard work done by the salesperson, at least most of the time. People who point fingers without going into the actual reasons are small minded or with their own self serving agenda. They should be given the short shrift.

If you caused the cancellation, then your reputation will be affected but if you did not, then it would not be affected. This is because at times the customers black box and behavior can not be predicted with much certainty. Thus misfortunes are bound to happen. Natural factors can equally cause cancellation of orders apart from man made factors

If your organization already have a proactive approach in procurement planning and Sales, with a good customer service matrix, a cancelled order will be only one of those rare cases which you will be able to justify very easily, and it will not effect your reputation at all.  It is a part of the business.

Firstly as a Sales executive if an order gets cancel we should try to find out the reason as why the customer has cancelled the order. If it got cancelled due to any professional issues like delay in shipment, defect, damaged etc we should try to get the issue resolved and get the order back for the company, as this type of order cancellation effect companies reputation in the market. if the customer has cancelled the order due his/her personal reason, then we should always deal it professionally and should not ask for the reason, however we should always try to make sure that whenever he make an order it shoukd be from your company only.
