Well there are actually three ways to install the wordpress plugin.
1- Going to Dahsboard > Plugins > Add New > Search for plugin and click on Install
2- Download the plugin i.e zipped folder. and then going to Dashboard > Plugins and then click on the Upload link in the top and seelct the plugin you just downloaded.
3- FTP (File Transfer Protocol). You can use the software like FileZilla or any other to upload the downloaded folder in the public_html/wp-content/plugins/ . Make sure to decompress the plugin before or after the upload. And then you can activate the plugin by going into Dashboard > Plugins and click on the Activate link just under the plugin name.
There are two ways to install wordpress plugins
1. Dashboard Mode
This is the easiest way of installing a WordPress plugin. The only downside is that a plugin must be in the WordPress plugin directory.1st go to your WP Admin Panel and click on Plugins >> Add New >> Search for your plugin >> A list of plugins will be displayed >> Find the best that suits you and click on install >> a popup window will appear, read the description etc and click on the install >> Once installed you can activate the plugin as per your need.
In this mode you can also direclty upload a zip compressed file directly if you have it in your pc.
2. FTP Mode
Connect to you FTP >> Go to the host >> go to /wp-content/plugins/ >> upload the decompressed file in a new folder with the plugin name >> access your wordpress admin panel >> go to plugin >> Click to activate
