Sir

Not only cosmetic surgery, anything related to cosmetic even Acne vulgaris treatment is not covered at present in Saudi Arabia

This policy matter is governed by CCHI the governing Government body and the insurance company adhere to it.

One exception is SAICO  VVIP  policy , this policy covers everything including cosmetic surgery and  any cosmetic procedures , this a high premium policy of tens of thousands of riyals .

yes it should be in this beauty conscious world , sooner or later special policies will be rolled to cater the needs of this cosmetic conscious world , the insurers has no options they have to accept the trend and make policies to serve the demands

Most cosmetic procedures are elective and thus should be paid for by the individuals having them, while medically necessary procedures are covered by insurance. I find myself arguing with insurance companies to cover treatment of my patients skin conditions that are seriously affecting their quality of life.

Yes, this has become a medical necessity procedure.  As it is well known in the health care industry that cosmetic surgery is not covered by health insurance, I am in belief that this should be changed and the criteria to approve this surgery should be revisted

What I believe is, If it is medically needed for the patient then the procedure must be covered by the insurance provider. And insurance providers always tends to reduce the cost. Most of the time they say 'NO' because they think that health insurance providers must not pay for someone to look good. Because they kind of confuse the medically needed and cosmetic procedure terminologies. Even cosmetic procedures might also be related to some disease which might be causing chronic problems to the patient and could grow in to medically affected patient. But insurers deem this scenario as incurring high cost and must not cover under health insurance. My point is that they must cover it under the health insurance as human body is the precious gift of GOD and one must not lose it at any cost just because health insurance providers/plans does not cover it.

is that procedures considered “medically necessary” very well may be covered, even if they also serve to enhance your physical appearance. So breast reduction to treat your aching back, or excess skin removal following dramatic weight loss are sometimes covered. It all comes down to your insurance carrier and plan, he explains. Every company and every plan define “medically necessary” differently.

As a general rule cosmetics are not covered in a standard medical insurance policy. But, it's excepted by a doctor recommendation if it does prevent future damage, or if it is a result from a covered medical issue.

Health insurance should cover cosmetic surgeries only if it is affecting the member's daily life and function or have a long-term effect on the health, example, the bariatric surgeries should be covered if the patient is having a BMI of 50 and above with multiple co-morbidities

Basically Cosmetic surgery is not a part of any medical or health insurance but some companies in the market as providing such type of insurance also at very high cost but normally its not
