Talking int he terms of Efficiency ,for large scale energy production we can use CSP i.e: Concentrated Solar Power for more efficiency.

Although PV have lower efficiency.

Solar thermal power plants are more effective, unlimited source of energy from the sun and no Solar thermal power generation systems collect and concentrate sunlight to produce the high-temperature heat needed to generate electricity and the photovoltaic cell, commonly called a solar cell, is a non-mechanical device that converts sunlight directly into electricity. Some PV cells can convert artificial light into electricity and the cost of manufacturing PV Cells are much higher, In that way, solar thermal power plants are more effective.

Thermal power plants are more efficient during the night time, but it is more complicated systems to build comparing with pv system

Thank you for invitation, I Though Solar thermal power plant is most suitable for large-scale energy production.

Thermal Power Plants would be the most suitable for large-scale energy production.

You need to keep in mind what type of fuel you have at your disposal, coal, gas, oil, and take into account transportation costs and other costs, warehousing, and the like.

If the thermal power plant's location were in the area where there is enough sunshine days (solar energy is available), economic analysis should be carried out in each case, taking all available factors into account (construction costs, guided plant, maintenance, etc.) and due to ecological factors one would also consider this solution.

But in any case the first choice would be a thermal power plant because it is about the production of a large amount of energy. This means thermal power plants 100,200,500 and more MW.

Depends purely on the natural resource potential of the geographic in question.

PV cells are growing rapidly, from a small base to a global capacity of 46400 MW at the end of 2011 representing 0.5% of the world's electricity demand 5 More than 100 countries are using photovoltaic solar power.

Here the answer is logical. Both the generation systems Solar and Thermal has their own advantages and disadvantages. Still many countries in the world are dependent on the traditional energy generation systems.

In terms of reliability if we talk Thermal is very suitable for large scale generation, but the coal reserves and co2 emission matters a lot.

The Solar though initial investment cost is high, can assure the operation up to long times with low running costs. But intermittent in nature so cannot be reliable.

Solar thermal would be the best choice.
