Do you think that "to assign responsibilities to your subordinates is to spend more time explaining to them what to do than to do it yourself"?

Greetings, when I have this topic about managerial effectiveness in my HBO subject.I need to conduct an interview to my manager on how he will delegate the task and why he should delegate. And he said that I need to partner the novice to the skilled one so the novice could learn from the skilled one.So their will be also learning and building trust. And he said also that I assigned you this requisition and inventories because I know you can do it right on time. And when I was not able to open the clinic because my key had expired,I sent a message to my manager, informing him that I cannot open the clinic but he did not reply. And the next day he told me that i did not replied to your message because i know you can handle it.In this way of assigning task their is no explaining and their is no waisting of time. Our manager assigned us based on our capabilities.Thanks.

This is wrong theory, based on your say, managers will implement all things and employees sinking on their chairs only.

No. You should not give them responsibility until you are certain they know the job they are responsible for.

You should show then how it is done.. Explain to them how it is done.. But after that they are on their own.

All you do is oversee and monitor .

This must be done until the competent person is delegated to perform the right task, and this is done only once and he has to perform the work no matter what

Thanks for invitation,

No, this is the core philosophy of "Delegation".

Managers have their own responsibilitities attached to them just as subordinates also have their own responsibilities attached to them, therefore it would be absurd if one of the parties takes on the responsibilities of the other part. This brings to play the concept of delegation & monitoring and it's entire relevancy where managers are required to train, nurture & develop subordinates then assign & delegate responsibility to them while subordinates will be required to apply the knowledge & skills passed onto them in order to perform as required of them. Therefore in a nutshell, I don't consider it a waste of time for managers to delegate, it's only a waste of time if they delegate without imparting the necessary knowledge & skills to subordinates & ultimately forego monitoring them Thanks for the invitation
