After 20 years in the professional training industry I can say that the qualities of the professional trainer are:

- Being human: feels, listens, sees trainees and deals with them as humans showing empathy.

- Well trained: the trainer him/herself should be trained how to train, training by experience only can result in disasters.

- Good planner: a basic rule for professional trainers is good planning and evaluation of each step leaving nothing for chance. Good preparation before training (materials, place, facilities, knowledge of the subject,....etc), professional delivery through diversified style (auditory, visual, kinaethetic) to match the different learning styles of trainees., post training evaluation to improve areas of inefficiency.

- Clear communication

- Passionate and humble

- Confident and knows how to deal with conflict, pressure and sticky situations.

- Possessing the criteria of a facilitator not a teacher.

- Open for criticism (which is the golden key for improvement and correcting mistakes which do happen)

- Able to say I don't know when he/she does not know.

- Walks the talk, does what he says, credible.

- Able to personalise the training experience (transfer the theory into practice relevant to the needs of trainees)

- Able to identify actual needs of trainees.

What can be more professional than that? I wonder!

He should pay more attention to details

A good trainer must have a thorough knowledge about what he trains. He should be able to clear any doubts not only in his subject but also in other subjects too.Above all he should understand each trainee capability and provide training accordingly. This makes him look different from other professional
