Revit is little complicated than AutoCAD
When Revit Experts enter into the market, then there is a chance of replacement of AutoCAD into Revit.
Now a Days in Middle East, for government approval of building, they need to show the 3D view of the building, Revit now improving with the calculation especially in MEP services.
In my opinion, REVIT can replace AutoCAD since this software is easier to use in the sense that you can produce sections and elevations from a single model. It is a time-saver, and cost-efficient.
Revit is the structure where all the architecture and structural civil engineer works with reliability. Nowadays the use of Autocad is slightly down when Revit is came in market and all the reputed company's adopt Revit for their Designing Department. But today some company still work on Autocad so i don't think that Revit will completely replace Autocad. Autocad is still a Better software in the market and for the better 2D work still Autocad is hot favourite
Not necessarily. Revit is really good for modelling. But it's very difficult to draft in Revit. It seems like it's not practical to include all the drafting tools available of Autocad in Revit. Structural detailing, shop drawings,etc. in Revit are still not as easy as in Autocad. So as long as drafting is needed and as long as Revit doesn't include those tools, Autocad is here to stay.
In my opinion, Revit can replace Autocad in the future because almost all the functions of autocad can be done in Revit. It's just a matter of practice and continuous learning to be able to successfully transition autocad jobs to revit.
All trends show, rather earlier than later BIM software (not Revit only) will replace 2D drawing methods. I find a way of working in Revit a much more natural and efficient. I feel like finally, I do not have to spend my time on using traditional technics from standard AutoCAD to create sections, elevations and other similar elements of the project documentation. These 3D techniques were available in AutoCAD ADT for example and that helped me later ease change the software. There are countless advantages using BIM (Revit) and great possibilities to be more developed and advance in the future. Here, I would point only a few significant as an example:
Time saved to prepare project documentation;
Simultaneous collaboration with other team members on the same model;
More efficient coordination with other parties like structural consultants and services engineers;
Better clash detection at the design stage - it saves time and additional costs later on the site.
Quick cost calculation.
Well, there is many other positive aspects. BIM (Revit) will not replace AutoCAD because it is not a good tool (I "love" AutoCAD and I'm still using it from time to time, because of many reasons), it is just the next natural step to exceed beyond current limits. As a previous user of AutoCAD, I have to admit, I love to work in Revit environment now.
no I think Auto Cad will stay and by development and new features that came every year will be more flexible
Revit cannot replace Autocad. Both have their own advantages. It depends on what type of end applications the user desires from these programs. The ease of use and matter productivity is higher in Revit than in Autocad, but then again that is subjective to the desired result !
It's like asking which transmission is better for an automobile...Manual or Automatic or Sequential or Selective ????
Yes, It is started, soon Auto Cad will be software of past.
maybe but some people like me prefer the old school aka autocad :D
