Would "name dropping" benefit you during an interview or hurt your chances?

the practice of casually mentioning the names of famous people one knows or claims to know in order to impress others.

I think it's genuinely embarrassing name dropping. It gives a "oh look at me" impression which is both not clever of professional.

For me, name dropping would definitely blow your chance to get that job

I only name drop when I have something good to say pertaining to the person, otherwise, I speak in general as much as I can. Depends oh how you use it, it can make or break you.

 

 

Name dropping done in excess and recklessly might hurt you and can make you look superficial and egotistical.
