Even if we can think that it is the same thing, it is nevertheless two different fields. On the other hand, we know that social psychology and sociology share certain elements in their definition and that the birth of one has depended, in part, on that of the other. Initially, there was only sociology and psychology.

Part of psychology was concerned with social and group processes, and so social psychology was born. That's why the names are linked. Social psychology arises from the integration of psychology with sociology.

Sociology, on the other hand, has also been interested in the individual processes that psychology studies. The interaction between subjects and their environment has become an object of reflection for sociologists, thus moving away from other macro-sociological approaches. Therefore, it can be said that one has had a great influence on the other - and vice versa - in the evolution of both because their evolution is largely common

Psychology is one branch of many branches under the umbrella of social sciences such as political science, sociology, anthropology, mass communication etc. All of them studies about human, people and society. They share that same genre. However, they differ in the direction or focul point of their subjectmatter. For example Psychology is the study of an "individual", where as sociology is the study of a society, a group of people.
