If I don't use half the info I learned in college, why is it important for me to go there in the first place when I can be trained to do anything?

the university provided the basic training where one learns how and where to search and find information. This training in acessiing information will gretaly enhance future capacity for training; improve efficiency in training and perhaps allow one to achicve a lot more

It lis important to note that university learning equips you, not only with the info about your discipline but also with CHARACTER. Time management, punctuality, planning and interpersonal relationship are a few of this character. This is the reason the administrators say your certificate is an award in character and learning.

The Institute or college give you the basic knowledge and prepare you for practical, simple example if you dont know the structure, parts and component of any machine which you learn in Engineering how you design a further advance machine. Similarly when a human being born the first Institution is his house and teachers are his Parents from them he knows how to speak, listen and Eat Food, coming straight from Mother belly you will not become a Scholar.

Because when i was at the college, i was trained to focus my acquired knowledge on a particular area of specialty. i was also giving the opportunity to learn at my own pace and do research on my own where i can acquire these knowledge myself.

The main purpose of knowledge acquisition is for self , environment and the hereafter. it is vanity for man to have acquired knowledge and not useful for himself and humanity or when the knowledge is not transferred by all means of training and educating the trainable livings around.

So, the best of mankind are those who have knowledge and transfer it. Therefore, being well trained and educated in college is a determinant of the capability of inductive practical application of knowledge and not the volume.

Theory is the basic. Even this info is not used , yet it has got a place in sub-concious mind even after many years. Training only cover the current job requirement, it doesnt provide the big picture taught in colleges. 

We know the difference between the RMP(Registered Medical Practioner) and MBBS(Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).

It is critical not to harm anyone's feelings in the first place. Have you noticed that people's bahavior is proportionate to their level of education? People with only six years of schooling have diferent manners than those with 9 or 12 years of schooling. Yet, in order not to make generalizations and stereotypes, this is not an absolute fact. It is only notable in deeveloping and underdeveloped countries but not limited to them. Nevertheless, informed and balanced upbringing often makes up for the lack of schooling. University education more than often guarantees a certain amount of civilized behavior than not.
