It is easy to say but practically very difficult to implement if you do not have plenty of money.  You will definitely need to do the following

  1. Make sure your website is responsive
  2. Make sure your site loads fast
  3. Use https://
  4. Make sure the site architecture is user friendly
  5. Carry out keyword research and mostly like implement long tail if there is competition
  6. Find out what your competitors are doing
  7. Write content that can be easily read without jargon. (This is to avoid high bounce rates as time spent on your site is a contributing factor
  8. Write good content that provides value to your users so that they may come back looking for more
  9. Incorporate your primary keyword in your titles, content body and avoid keyword stuffing, duplicate content and plagiarism.
  10. Make sure each paragraph on your website is between2-5 sentences depending on the length of your sentences
  11. Make sure all images on your website have "alt text descriptions"
  12. Implement H1, H2, H3 et al in your content's organizationtion
  13. Build backlinks from quality and authority websites (This may sound easy but it is not if you do not have enough money)
  14. Deploy Analytics to learn how well or bad your site is doing and take action
  15. Make use of SEO tools available out there for insights and keep taps on your competitors and their own competitors

This will not happen overnight. It will take time, effort and resources because you will need to create a brand for your business. This is where social media comes in. Share your content on social media platforms and if it is up to scratch people will start talking about it and sharing your content.

If you have money, you may use social media influencers to push out your content to their followers. This is because their followers already believe in them.

I hope these basics make sense to you or someone else.

Enjoy

Getting your website at the top of SERPs can be achieved through a blend of strategies but one is king, namely; unique content. SEs bots have thirst for different and out of the box contexts.

It depends on whether you want to promote a personal website or a business website. The reason for this is it all comes down to budget. There are a lot of factors that come into play such as your budget, the quality of your website and content, on page and off page optimization, the latter would require a lot of time and investment depending on the competition in your industry.  The level of channels you want to use to promote your website, whether you business requires a need for a PPC solution or it may require an out of the box solution. If you are a business I would highly recommend you to hire a professional to handle this area as being the business owner it is not possible for you to do every thing by yourself. Also make sure the said professional knows what he/she is doing as many people in this industry claim to know what they are doing but in reality that is far from the truth.

I think Stanley explain quite nicely. Overall you need two important things.

1- On Page Optimization (keyword research, title, meta descriptions, headings, content, canonicals etc.)

2- Off Page Optimization (backlinks, quality content implementation, guest posts, etc.)

For On Page you need to do the website technical audit and implement the corrections on issues.

For Off Page you need to spread the quality content, get notice by target audience, get a link on your content. Check your competitors what they are doing and how you can do it in a better way.

Social media another platform to get notice and get links through.
