Simply put, if your exact competitors are present in a particular show then you should also be there.

But below are few more pointers before deciding:

  • Attendees: The quality & number of attendees is an important indicator.
  • Pricing: The cost to participate/exibit/sponser in any event should be another indicator. If the cost is in your marketing budget and you expect to get some ROI from any show, then only your should feel positive about it.
  • Competitors: The more your competitors participate in a show, the more your should consider it.
  • Age: Please avoid new events unless it is being managed by major brand, and they have deep marketing pockets. Go for the shows which are there for many years and have good market image.
  • Previous Attendees: Hear it directly from horse's mouth. You can get some practical feedback from previous attendees.

You may also want to look at the 'Location & Size of Your Booth'.

Hope it helps

- First you have to do your homework and conduct a detailed research about all exhibitions organized for your product range.

- You should know which markets you are interested in, and compare it with the event visitors statistics (percentage of visitors from each country)

- You should consider the timing of the show whether it will be a business travelling time for executives and decision makers or not

- Also it should not be in the same time of another major event organized in another country

- Size of the show with respect to organizing company, venue, number of exhibitors, quality and size of exhibitors, and number of visitors.

- Ofcourse you can consider other factors like presence of competitors, price, available locations and areas....etc.
