Low power factor is an indication that how much inductive the load is. For electrical power active power is the usefull one for the equipments. If the power factor is less more will be the loss power or reactive power. For an ideal installation (purely resistive) power factor considered as unity.

- Bad power quality transmission

- excessive temperature due to high reactive power

- high power consumption

it can be improved using :

capacitor banks

Low power factor will result to high current, high current will require higher cable size, higher circuit protection and higher cost as well compared to power factor near unity.

To improve the low power factor is by implementing a Synchronous motor or the commonly used Capacitor bank and it will be size by identifying the system total Apparent power (Volt-Ampere).

low power factor directly involved with current when your power factor low current will increase and you will face economical loss due hight current because when high current copper losses will increase...2nd how can improve

you need to reduced the inductive load or increase the Capacitive    load in parallel.

 I = P / v cos0

cos0 is your power factor.
