How important are team meetings for the success of the business?

If you have a good team meeting when it's valuable to have one, that's very helpful for the success of the business.  Indeed, it can be vital.

If you have a bad one when it's not necessary, that's bad for the business.

Most team meetings in the corporate world are actively unhelpful.  If you're going to have one/them, be very clear about what it is supposed to achieve.  Then think about whether this is the best way to achieve whatever that goal is.

The advantages of the meeting must outweigh the inherent disadvantages.Always remember that most of the people at the meeting don't want to be there, and it interferes with their routine job.    Incompetent managers often schedule team meetings at the beginning or end of normal working hours in order mitigate this effect.  It doesn't work, because the time "saving" is more than offset by the reduction in morale.
