Microwave is used for wireless data transmission. it is basically working in the same way as radio, but on a dedicated frequency for this task.

 

both points ( dishes)  need to be in "line of site" ot eachother to be effective, so often found on high buildings.   It is primarily used by business, or schools, to connect separate office buildings or school campuses
