Technical Consultant job is to develop forms and reports based on functional requirement (Business Requirement)
Functional Consultant job is to study the client business process to map the same into Oracle Application and to identify the GAPs in the business processes (which cannot be mapped to Oracle Apps)
Techno-Functional : A person who can do both the above jobs
A functional consultant is one who interprets business processes, writes specs, and typically does the system configuration to reflect business requirements.
A technical consultant is typically a programmer, who develops programs specified by functional consultant to fill gaps between business processes and ERP (eg. helps in customizing the ERP code).
These two roles are merging these days. To be competitive in ERP market, one needs to be both, functional and technical. Techno – Functional consultants are those who can handle both technical and functional roles of ERP.
All of then has there own set of defined roles and responsibility,
Functional Consultant in any ERP is suppose to have a clear understanding of all functionality of the ERP for the business probably of a specific module may be for a particular division,
Technical Consultant usually develop new customized reports based on Functional Specification provided to them from the Functional Consultants. They are master of new developments or to find the errors in the script and old written codes & customized reports or process.
Techo Functional consultants are usually the experienced person who have exposure of both the phases of Functional Consultant and Technical Consultant. Off course they have one of the two as there strength and other as an additional benefit of knowledge ( Understanding )
