what i think of is augmented reality well be better since you will add only add the object (furniture) and avoiding all this Unnecessary things like the lighting and the shadow to make the surrounding environment which is look unreal in vr by the way
if you can use the space inside the customers home to put the furniture in the way you want ""Virtual"" and let them see it in there home by Wearing the augmented reality glass to see how it will look like in the reality but calculating the distance between the customers who wearing the glass and the unreal object well be hard when they moving
