Changing jobs and changing careers are two separate entities in a lot of respects.

Changing jobs, maybe something that happens simply because one position offers more salary than the other job, or maybe one job is less commute time between home and work location, or maybe one employer is better to work for.

Changing careers is usually motivated by a need to change one’s direction in life.

After years of working in the same career field a person may find that they are better suited to work in another field, or maybe they can make more money or have more workplace satisfaction

In other cases, one may work for years in a specific field while completing an education process, and must make a career change to their field of study.

I have worked one to one with individuals who after completing a personality profile assessment, they have decided that they need to take an entirely different approach to their work life, because they have discovered things about their personality they didn't know.

JOBS - most people want to change for reason of dissatisfaction with where they are and what they are doing, who they are doing it with and how, and where they are going if they remain where they are.

CAREERS - saturation with the same thing, wish to do something that has more to do with our interests, values; sometimes it's a pursue of a hobby in terms of career (turning it into career).
