In my point of view this is a straight forward yet very complicated task and a very critical one in the wake of intense competition and volatile environments we work in.

Recently i did my Society for Human Resource Manager - Certified Professional , where the most important thing i learnt was each and every job with in the organization should contribute towards achieving organizational goals directly or indirectly.Lets say in this case achieve the budgeted or designated profits is the chief goal of the organization. To achieve that goal there must be a strategy to ensure that you attain goals and objectives. That strategy will help you develop a competency framework , enlisting the set of competencies the organization requires. This competency framework should be develop complementing your strategy and all the job holders should embody those competencies.Job documentations will be developed keeping in view the competency framework of the organization. If you move in this sequence you will ensure that each and every job that exists in the organization is directly or indirectly contributing towards the realization of the common goals i.e. profits
