Why transformer rating say in KVA not in KW?

Because in transformer, there are two types of losses 1) Copper losses 2) Core losses/Iron losses

Copper losses depend upon current and given by (I^2)*R and Core losses depend upon voltage. Hence, transformer rating is in KVA not in KW.
