Actually there is sign in every room mentioning that the hotel is not responsible for any loss, and a safety deposit box is placed in every closet to keep their valuables.

NO customers can hold the Hotel responsible if someone steal good out of your room -  If one of the famous hotels (five stars) will take care and take action, ... as in case if anything got lost or stolen they don't hold any responsibility

The answer to this question is the reputation and name of the hotel and the nationality of the guest

If one of the famous hotels (five stars) will take care and take action, either if a hotel that does not care about his reputation will accuse you of negligence, whether the nationality of the European guest ... etc. In both cases will care

while checking in you fill in the registration form (R.C) and its mentioned there that you need to keep your money, jewelry or anything valuable in a safety deposit box as in case if anything got lost  or stolen they don't hold any responsibility,

in case if  you anything valuable got stolen from your safety deposit box, in this case the hotel holds the responsibility.

Dear

I think all hotels from 1 star to 5 stars usually have a security office that monitor the lobby elevators halls and open areas like parking pools etc, with that you are provided with access card to the room and the room safe is there and you can keep everything valuable init other than that the hotel usually have a safe to store the items or cash as service the only people allowed to access the room is the cleaners and the room service personal.

so leaving valuable things around is a personal neglect that the hotel is not responsible for but still you need to report it so the hotel can hold there own investigation and find ways to improve the security majors.
