Your manager asked you to do something but you know it is against the bank procedures and policies. How will you respond?

You can always refuse if it is against policies but if the manager insists on his assurance ask him sign your written qualification for the work done.

Yes the matter should be justified and clerified to the manager giving brief sketch of the matter and its intercasy. Technical hinderance be brought into his notice so that he may become convinced not to force on what he intends to do.

Any process against banks should not been initiate, such request should be raised with concern head/department for clarification if any policy would have be amended by legal/compliance team and can be documented as process which is not under your notice.after all such information.line manger request can be accepted or refuse

Re-check the updates of the bank internal policy if its still against the policy i will ask him to send me an official email requesting the task from me in order to keep my self in the safe side and i will do it

If you are working in an organization where straight and fair environment exists.
Clearly refuse.
in other situations use delay tactics, neither refuse nor perform the suspicious task.

Peter is Right, when you are sure that certain job is against the bank's policy whatever requested by the line manager.

Ask your manager to send you an email and you could discuss these issues with your Compliance team confidentially.

In any organisation you are responsible for your behavior. If there is an audit and you are caught the manager concerned will not save you. You can loose your job, have a bad reputation and can also be arrested if you do any thing against the bank polo\icy. Hence do not be a yes man always. You shold know when to say no. Try to be diplomatic but honest.

just i'll say Ok provided receiving the approval from delegated person as per the bank policy otherwise it cannot be fly

I would recommend to check whether it is going to do anything good for the bank, not hampering any goodwill or financial loss.
If it is, rejection is the best policy or if it is going to benefit the organization by bringing some goodwill and increase some customer flow, take your case to Risk Department and make your point, while mitigating all the issues highlighted.
Get sign off and proceed.
For example : To refund a processing fee, might be against the policy, while you can take your case to the profit / cost center owner and put up a case and reverse it.
Because this refund might bring a lost faith of customer and utmost nature to save customer's money at all times.
By delaying any issues, it can bring a lot tension and issues between you and your manager.
Always mitigate your issues and supplement with impact on organization as your final call.
