The power to take private property for public use by a state, municipality, or private person or corporation authorized to exercise functions of public character, following the payment of just compensation to the owner of that property.

This doctrine of Eminent domain is the principle of acquiring the private property of individuals by state for the cause of public purpose or larger public cause by providing compensation and rehabilitation to the owners.. My 2 cents. Thanks.
