Economics is a social science concerned with the factors that determine the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. When you start studying about these factors only then you can be an economist.
I agree with previous answers. I would like to add reading business books, watching business tv channels, read magazines, check stock and commodities prices, read and compare recommendations of business authorities.
By studing to get "B.Sc. Economics" at least for undergardute degree or to get a Post graduate diploma in "Economic Analsis", provided you have already a relative under graduate degree.
