I have always thought that teaching is a gift and good teachers are gauged by the sucess of their students, not everyone learns at the same pace or degree of understanding. How is that measured depends on what stiffles, stumps or inhibits the student.  Overcoming that sumbling block and giving the student the tools to move to the next thing is what seperates good teachers from the ordinary teacher.

First of all, know your subject very well !

Patience is a must have, so you can assist and teach the students.

Psychology is very useful too, as you have to understand the people you deal with.

Pedagogy is the basis of your classes, as you will have to build your program according to the school expectation, as well as the students' level.
