Listening is a act of hearing any sound e.g. Traffic sounds , Sound of Birds etc.

But Active listening is getting across true message with intent & content of (Sender) the speaker & (Receiver) the listener clearly.

Active listening involves listening through all senses.e.g touch, see & feel etc.

Active listening is utmost tool in any professional & personal conversions .

Listening in when you're just listening like listening to a tv, a person, a song whatever it is. Active listening is the same, however you engage yourself with what you're listening to like when someone is giving speech and you nod your head along his speech in agreement or comment, it's an active response to what you're listening to.
