How to hide a layer in Adobe After Effect?

SIMPLY BY CLICKING ON THE EYE SHAPED ICON CORRESPONDING TO LAYER TO BE HIDE. ALTERNATIVELY Ctrl+Alt+E (For Windows)

First, toggle switches on.

Second, select and tick the shy layer option box of the layer chosen (Usually first box on the left)

Third, toggle shy layers show on/off right on top of the layer box.

OR you can precompose these layers into one editable pre-comp which will reduce your layer count but still give u editing possibility without toggling on/off shy layers.

first we can make layers into shy. It is more helpfull. To toggle a layer between shy and not shy, click the Shy switch for the layer, or select the layer in the Timeline panel and choose Layer > Switches > Shy. To toggle between hiding and showing all shy layers, click to select or deselect the Hide Shy Layers composition switch at the top of the Timeline panel, or choose Hide Shy Layers from the Timeline panel menu.

  1. Select the source footage file for a selected layer in the Info panel, press Ctrl+Alt+E (Windows) or Command+Option+E (Mac OS).
