Should Policy be flexible for employees compensating plans?

The policy should be the same for all employees.

However, the policy should allow as much flexibility.  A good policy might be:

'The company will compensate employees in a manner which is fair to the employee, other employees, the company and the shareholders.  The company will be as flexible as possible in accommodating employees' requests regarding compensation plans.'

Having a rigid compensation structure is just silly.
