Its the marking on the ship's hull indicatiing how deep the ship will be under water in special sea condition .for example because of density differnce between salt water and fresh water , a ship will sink differently in terms of water level on the hull so this markng is produced to show the level of water in different climates when its fully loaded .

It’s the level of the ship at a certain load to calculate the free board and the draft. It’s the intersection of the sea level and she ship hull and can be read on the marks put on the front of the ship.
