What is a Smart Object in Adobe Photoshop and why we are using it?

Smart object is the new layer feature updated in Photoshop which includes other different layer and styles inside it, it is basically used to remain your design as is so you can edit them in future and also for reducing the system RAM burn.

In Photoshop there have two type of layers we called raster and smart. Smart layer specially use for enlarge size of the image, use for adjestment, smart filter and marsking so i think if we doing something in photoshop better to trancefer to the raster layer into smart layer.
