In my opinion, Education and experience are both important, however, Education is more important in the sense that when a person has a formal education he is oriented with the basics to a more complex situation in an office/service/production environment.

There are subjects taught in college that would contribute to perform the job in the highest level of satisfaction.

Basic knowledge of course is the heart of all work.During work if anybody knows basic things he will get expertise in little time and fill comfortable to work.Hence Basic Education is necessary to be expertise in anyfield.More over experience will be gained on the work place as per norms of company. So in my opnion experiance is the latter thing after Basic knoledge i.e. Education.

I have been through this, experience is the key to survival. That is what i have learnt uptill now being in practical life. Education boost us up it gives us the confidence to enter in the practical life. But in the end its theoratical not practical. Many experiences that we go through that we learn from being in the field cannot be taught cannot be learnt in education. If you take engineering as example the life of an enginwer is tough we have to work sometimes in very heavy conditions. There is noise there is dust there ia heavy machinery, not for a moment we can imagine that while living our beautiful education life. So i find there is a huge industry academia gap considering my field. Which turns out into not equipping us or giving us the real picture of practical life.

Boht have great value in themselves but the education is essential element, more beneficial and easy way to get experience.
