Hi All,

Most of IBM server have built-in RAID controller/card but before purchasing kindly discussed with the supplier of your requirement like for RAID 10.

After purchasing your requirement , run BIOS, press F2 (diagnostic) during startup and when megaraid is loaded press ctrl+H to enter webbios configuration utility.

At webbios physical  view you should view all  the disc present.  Go to configuration wizard - new configuration - by the way raid 10 requires a minimum of 4 harddisk.  Select all the disk by pressing ctrl key to highlight all disk - select manual configuration - click add to array - accept DG (DG means Disk Group) - click next until finish. After finishing the 4 disk will become into one. Example four disk, each disk has 279.396 GB the result will be 1 disk with 558.792G.

After RAID configuration you can proceed OS installation.

If you are not currently in the Setup program, reboot the server (either cycle the power or press the Ctrl-Alt-Del keys simultaneously) and press F1 at IBM System x screen.

On the System Configuration and Boot Management screen, select System Settings.

On the System Settings screen, select Adapters and UEFI Drivers.

On the Adapters and UEFI Drivers screen, press the Enter key to refresh the list of adapters and drivers.

When the Adapters and UEFI Drivers screen refreshes, scroll down to LSI Logic Fusion MPT SAS Driver and select it.

On the Adapter Properties screen, select RAID Properties.

On the Select New Array Type screen, select Create IM Volume.

Press the C key to initiate mirroring for the array.

The mirroring takes a while; however there is no need to wait because the mirroring will continue in the background. You can proceed immediately to the next step.

Select Apply changes and exit menu to create the array.

Press the Esc key to close out all of the preceding screens, until you have backed up to the System Configuration and Boot Management screen.

Attention: Be sure to save any configurations when prompted.

So, a lot of people have difficulties configuring RAID-10 using MegaRAID because if you have for example four hard disks and you add them to a Disk Group, the only available options are RAID-0 and RAID-1.Here is how to do this on an IBM System x3650 server with four 300GB SAS hard disks.
