Why would anyone need to implement their own hashtable or linked list?

Nowadays, I can't find a single reason to do this. If you mean to ask why they still teach such things in University, the answer will be is to give the student an insight on the core of technology, but with the modern OOP programming languages and it's advanced frameworks, you don't need to build your own DATA STRUCTURE anymore.
