CRM (Customer Relationship Management) is a separate business software category distinct from ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning). While both CRM and ERP systems are used to manage different aspects of a business, they serve different purposes and focus on different areas.

CRM systems are primarily designed to manage and optimize customer interactions, sales processes, and customer data. They help businesses streamline their sales, marketing, and customer service activities, allowing for improved customer relationship management, lead tracking, and customer support.

On the other hand, ERP systems are comprehensive software solutions that integrate and manage various core business functions, such as finance, human resources, inventory management, procurement, and manufacturing. ERP systems provide centralized data and workflows to enhance operational efficiency, automate processes, and facilitate data-driven decision-making across different departments within an organization.

While there can be some overlap between CRM and ERP functionalities, they are generally considered separate software categories. However, integration between CRM and ERP systems is common in many organizations to ensure seamless data flow and enhance overall business processes.

Start by defining and understanding the problems that ERP or CRM will solve. Then collecting the business requirements and write down all business functions specifications. Then short list solution providers in your area, who has many implementation experiences, strong support, and system with up-to-date technology. Send them your requirements, and ask them how their ERP/CRM system will help your business achieve its goal.  

Don't call vendors to demonstrate their systems for you. it is a sales demo aims to close a sale. You need a solution customized for your company. 

There are lots of variables to consider in such decision. but the mean one is how can you build a relationship with the vendor.
