Hi, there is no software that can make you a good graphic designer but there are softwares that can help you to be a graphic designer. A software doesn't make you a good graphic designer what makes you a good graphic designer is if you are creative enough to come up with good and effective designs ideas that can communicate effectively with your target audience. Design softwares are just tools you can use to show your creativity.

If you are looking for softwares for graphic design and video editing you should probably be using the Adobe products such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Flash, ligthroom for graphic design related tasks and adobe premiere and after effects for video editiing, effects and animations.

there are many ways of getting these softwares. First and formost you have to block your firewall

Graphic Designing Software:

Photoshop: Use this to edit Images, backgrounds, photos .... etc because this software main function is for editing Raster graphics (Pixel based graphics).

Illustrator: Use this to edit logos, brouchers, .... etc because this software's main function is for editing Vector graphics (Line based graphics).

Indesign: Use this for Magazine, news paper......etc designs. In this you can create a common rule like space between2 texts columns/rows, Text wrapping, Image placement all these in a proffesional way.

Flash: Use this for2D animation and also for web designing. Create2D characters then using "Tweens" and "Key frames" you can create the animation by moving character parts.

Video Editing:

Premier Pro: This will help you to edit videos and audios.

After Effects: As name says if you want to add any effects to your video then you can add it here. like bullet firing, bomb blasting etc....

These are the main softwares, but there are many other software too. But if you learn these softwares I bet you that you can learn other software fastly. :-)

Mainly if you are a starter i recommend you begin with Adobe softwares such as:

The best software, I agree with a couple of people here, is the Human Brain - Adobe definitely is the best option to fine tune your skills but as in the beginning, it is the brain and the creative cells that work the wonder.
